1. Our Core Promise

At Athwan, our entire business is built on trust. You are using our platform to document your most intimate life moments, family histories, and daily reflections. We do not, and will never, sell your personal data or memories to third-party brokers, advertisers, or training datasets. Your memories belong to you.

2. What We Collect

To provide our AI Biographer service, we collect the following information:

Account Information: Your WhatsApp phone number, used exclusively for authentication and delivering your chapters.
Your Memories: The text messages, audio files, and images you explicitly send to the Athwan bot.
AI Meta-Data: We generate and store encrypted mathematical representations (Vector Embeddings) of your memories strictly for your own use (e.g., when you use the semantic search feature).

3. How Your Data is Used

We use your data solely to fulfill our service to you.

Generation: We securely transmit your unstructured notes to our generative AI provider via a private, ephemeral API connection. Our contract strictly prevents our AI providers from using your inputs to train their public models.
Formatting: Your chapters are compiled, formatted as PDFs or Markdown, and delivered securely back to your verified WhatsApp number.

4. Security & Storage

We take your privacy seriously. Your data is encrypted at rest and in transit using industry-standard protocols. In fact, every single memory you send and every chapter we generate is individually protected with advanced AES-256 field-level encryption before it enters our database. Our infrastructure is hosted on world-class secure cloud servers.

5. Data Deletion & Export

You have the absolute right to be forgotten. If you wish to delete your account, we will permanently purge all your text entries, audio files, images, generated vectors, and PDF chapters from our active databases. We also allow you to request a full Markdown export of your data before deletion.

6. Children's Privacy (COPPA)

Athwan is designed exclusively for adults (18 years or older) to document their lives and family histories. Our service is not directed at children under 13, and children under 13 are strictly prohibited from creating accounts or using the service directly.

As a parent or legal guardian using Athwan, you may choose to document memories, milestones, and stories about your family members, including your children. By doing so, you represent and warrant that you are the legal guardian of the child with the authority to record and store this information for your private family archive.
